A Self-Help Guide For Natural Remedies
Holistic Treatments for Mononucleosis
Mononucleosis (mono) is an infectious viral disease that affects the respiratory system and the lymph tissues and glands in the neck, groin, armpits, bronchial tubes, spleen and liver. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, swollen glands, fatigue, headache, jaundice, and generalized aching. Mononucleosis is often mistaken for influenza. Bed rest is very important during the acute phase. Antibiotics are of no use unless there is a secondary infection.
Adequate rest, exercise, and nutrition are essential for the maintenance of general health and the prevention of mononucleosis. Protein is needed to stimulate the formation of antibodies, which protect against other infections such as jaundice and hepatitis that may accompany or follow mononucleosis.
